few questions about oil pan gaskets.
i have a 94 integra LS
i found that my pan is leaking from the gasket.
when i took a look at the pan bolts, all of the bolts
are accessable except for the 2 or 3 bolts next to the trans.
There is a metal plate from the trans. that is blocking over the
2 bolts in the pan.
1.Has anyone else come across this? and what did you do about it?
2.Do i need silicone sealant if iam using a rubber gasket?

1. ask shmoo/gssr, they have both gone through replacing the oil pan gasket... along with several other people on here
2. yes, you wanna use either "hondabond" or the grey sealant stuff you can pick up at autozone/pepboys (or your local autoparts store)

yes, there is a metal plate covering the flywheel. Should be 4 bolts. Just gotta pop those off and the place comes off. Then you have access to all the pan cover bolts. As far as sealants, the grey stuff works well- only around corners and around that metal plate

The gray sealant at any parts store is identical to Hondabond. I have been using that stuff forever and it works very well. I slathered my oil pan gasket with gray sealant front and back with a knife and as long as the bolts are tightened correctly in a criss cross fashion, it won't leak. Too bad I am still leaking because of an old rear main seal.
