rebuild in progress
I never received my built LS motor,so am having it rebuilt now. The motor
was just pulled and we discovered something unusual. No vin numbers on the block. Anyway, we're tearing the motor down and seeing what we're
dealing with. At minimum we're going to do a slight overbore, new JP forged
pistons and rings amd milling the head. I'll be replacing the damaged header
and might consider a port and polish of the head. For now I'm going to leave the head stock. My son may want to upgrade the cams, springs and
retainers at a later date. The rear motor mount was a compete mess and
all mounts will be replaces with GSR mounts.
It's all exciting and can't wait till it's done. Any suggestions from those of
you who have done this rebuild. I believe we're going to do all engine.
Thanks,
Doug

if you are going for an all motor build you are starting off great. be very careful over there in NP though... they are training cops to think that import=stolen engine.. and if you don't have the paperwork or at least something to prove that engine is yours... then you might be looking at some impound fees to cover.
as for your sons car, i'd definately recommend the P&P on the head, just to get that flow your increasing from the block... out. The LS heads are notorious for having horrible flow characteristics, so doing something like a P&P would just be another step on the right path.
