Default Is it normal??????

Is it normal for the interior of a 'Teg Type R to have smells from the engine when accelerating through the VTEC.
Test drove a 1995 JAP Import today and the guy said it was normal looking to buy it.

Cheers

Well when VTEC is engaged it shoots extra fuel into the cylinders..and if its JDM..there emissions are totally different...Was it smoking from the exhaust.

Didnt notice any smoke out the back no 90% sure, and it was a JDM. The Guy said it was normal and he seemed to be straight up bout everything else, was just wondering other peoples experiences to see if this is normal.

Thanks

Unfortunatly I dont really know, seemed to be an oily smell. It was only once the VTEC kicked in though.

sweet smell = Bad
oil smell= Light smell- ehh ok. heavy smell to smokey conditions- bad.

do a compression check and leak down before buying, it will give you a heads up on the conditon of the motor.

Or make a note of the oil level then rip thru the gears on the next test drive and see if it lost any oil.
also check the antifreeze- is it a clear green color?
