Default afraid my car will overheat

Yesterday, I was driving on the highway, I got off and stopped at a light. My temperature started reading higher and my iddle was getting lower.
Usually when it does this its because im in traffic. Anyways, im afraid my car may overheat. Should I check my coolant level or something
thx for any help

Coolant level in the radiator and overflow botttle is the first thing to check.

When was the last time the thermostat and coolant was replaced? Old thermostats can bind over time, and old coolant will allow the cooling system to start corroding.

yep, what kai said.. check the level, but it's probably a good idea to replace the coolant and thermostat. you could be low, or the tstat could be binding, or both.

is the rad still original to the car? as you probably know, this is notorious for letting go.. cheap plastic end tanks crack, etc..

I recomend having it looked at asap before a larger problem becomes of it. It would be a shame for it to heat up too much and blow the head gasket, Heat is the worst thing for our motors being they are aluminum. anotehr problem is worping and thats never a fun thing to go through eather.

you don't need to have it looked at yet. replace the coolant and tstat, and see if that helps.

tstat is back next to the intake manifold, passenger-side. coolant is everywhere! :run:

there's a drain plug at the bottom of the radiator, and there's a drain bolt on the block, right next to the exhaust manifold, pass-side.

You are not going to get all the coolent out unless you put some kind of vaccume on the lines to suck it out however that is not needed...if your concerened about the condition of the coolent the best thing you cold do is purchase some radiator flush, and follow the directions on the bottle.
