I have a turbo kit on my car and have had it tuned twice now. Something I have noticed is the car is now running more lean in the 10 to 20 vac range. It does not run lean under boost though. Will it hurt a car to run lean in vacuum? Sometimes it will even spudder as if the gas isnt there and throw and check engine light. Any Ideas?

It won't hurt anything, but partial throttle must feel like a dog.

 

See its funny because it only does it when it gets warm then it will throw a CEL and run lean from 10 to 20 in every gear till about 3000 rpms for about 5 minutes then it will run perfect numbers around 13.5 in the same range for about 5 minutes then back to the other ect ect.... it does this back and forth. So I am wondering if i should just find the points at which the fuel is not there and tell him to put fuel back in at those points and burn a new chip and send it to me. The gas milage is great though lol!! and under boost she runs rich and goes like a mother. So.... what do you think?

 

Can you obtain the actual code it is throwing? It typically won't throw a code for running lean.

 

Yeh Ill run it up to the shop and put the check on it. It comes on as soon as it starts sputtering out and the uego reads like 17.8 to ---. then it kicks on. Has never come on other than that though. Ill check it out and see.

 

yea have him retune that, i suggest going to a different tuner, if he couldnt do it twice... dont have him do it again.
