is ther a way to check that w/o going n buying a tool??

yeah, that thing isn't very good. feeler gauge is the way to go. but yeah, you're right. it's better than nothing, and better than taking someone's word for it.

Yeah, I snapped mine at the thin part, but it still works for what it was intended to. Just don't use it to widen the gap, just to measure it and it won't break. Even a feeler gauge set is only $6, so there should be no excuse for having improper spark plug gap.
