How can you tell an older type r (the one with the 4 round headlights) from a regular integra with badges and decals and rims without looking under the hood?? Thanks

 

Ok....just so that you know the R's were made here in 97-98, and 00-01...so its the DC2 model of the integra..thats the chasis code..thats how you refer to diff years....not the 4 round headlights..=).....you can tell the R apart 2 main ways..not including the badges stickers etc...the R has no side moldings like the other integras....and the rrims/wheels are 5 lug..not 4 like the other teggy's....that a pretty simple answer..:thumbup:

Moon-roof is a dead giveaway to non-Type R's

 

but u forgot that the lower trim models didnt have no moonroofs either...

 

People can and have done the switch to 5 lug on normal integras. Other than the interior...CF trim...red dash lights...seats...ITR # on center console...etc. From the outside the Type-R did not have a rear wiper. I am not sure though if they plugged the whole for it or the glass was complete.

 

That's true but the rs versions had the unpainted side moldings. Unless they took them off and bought all the Type R goodies, an RS can look exactly like a Type R. Also I think all Type R's have rear wipers.

Only the 97 ITR had no rear windshield wiper (and to answer the 2nd part, they just used a decklid off non-wiper model Teg). The 98 and 00-01 had the rear wiper standard.
