Do you have a CEL on? If so, check the flashing light opn the computer and see if it is flashing. If no CEL is on, start w/a basic tune up. When is the last time that 90 has had had that done? Have the wires ever been replaced? Bad wires can make the car sputter pretty bad if they are not functioning correctly.

i had a similar problem... turns out with a new fuel filter/oil change/spark plugs/wires it was fixed... after i got everything done... i was curious what it probably was... so it turns out the fuel filter was siezing up a little bit... as well as the #4 spark plug wire had a minor crack in it... so in higher compression it would actually come out a little bit and give me a shittier spark if at all
