Damn, thanks for all the helpful relpys guys. I'm thinking of the by pass valve, I don't think i'll be getting it. Why, because of the hole in the straw thing. My whole point of getting a CAI that goes down into the wing was so I can get more cleaner and colder air. Because i'm planning on drag racing every chance I get, this setup will be more advantageous than the hot air coming from the engine bay. Don't get me wrong, i'm not bashing short rams, I just see a Wing Intake more advantageous for draggers, (Or in my case a wannabe dragger :wiggle: ). Anyways, thanks for the help guys. keep kickin ass...

yeah, like some said...don't even worry about it. you gotta run through some deep ass puddles to actually suck up enough water to kill your engine.
I was worried about it before also...so I got the bypass valve...and regretted it! the thing was cheap and it ripped in half (luckily, I had the retainer so the foam thing didn't get sucked up into my TB)....now I just have a 2-piece AEM w/ a silicone hose connecting the two pieces.

i didnt pay for my aem cai. i traded it with my friend for a set of low beams, high beams, my generic but much louder short ram intake, modified blinker relay, blue gauge cluster bulbs...and some other stuff...so he gave me his intake with bypass valve...i dont use the valve, and since it hasnt rained here in los angeles in the last 2 years, i dont think it matters anyway

Is it possible to use the stock intake system off the type r? I know that is a cold air system and water cant get in so no need to worry. If not, can you just cut off the part off the stock GS-R intake system that hooks back into the engine bay? You can see what I'm talking about in the picture under the "intake" category. (thanks to team-integra.net for the pic)

it looks to me like the Type R intake is just as restrictive as the normal intake, except it is pulling air from inside the fender instead of the engine bay. I can't see there being much of a difference from the two intakes.

Man all that **** is hard to pull out when you put in a CAI that goes in back of the front bumper, especially when you do it in your drive way and are inexperienced.

Osman: If you want my inexperienced opinion, I don't see why you couldn't section off the part that conects back to the engine bay. I don't see the point though...if I were you i'd just get an aftermarket CAI.

If you're scared of water, take off your CAI.
If you're scared of water, put on a Bypass Valve
If you're scared and you have a Bypass Valve already, you're a retard.
