I checked the ecu blinks and it blinks 8 short blinks over and over

I believe the codes are similar if not the same for your year of car.

When the car is in the ON position, the check engine light emits two different flashes; a long extended flash means 10, and a rapid flash means 1. So, one long flash, another long flash, followed by 3 quick flash stands for...................23! Equipped with that information, here are the codes for the '92-'00 Honda and '94-'00 Acura.

It says for code 8 TDC position. When I put the new distributor in, the ses light came on immediatley, and now that i think of it, there is a little bit of pinging or something. did i put the distributor on wrong? How do i correct the situation properly, I thought it only went in one way. do i have to twist it or something

I did some research and it says there is tdc sensor inside the distributor, I got it from a junkyard, I think i will just return it and try another on.
you cant put it on wrong right, i mean it only goes on one way.
