Default SES after replacing distributor?

I just got the integra running with a new distributor and it is faster than ever

but now the idle is kind of high and the check enging light is on, did i put the distributor on wrong or something, I put the 3 bolts on and the 2 harnesses anything else I could have missed

Thanks

Hi
Im not sure I understand, I dont know how to "set" it exactly.
when i put it in, it can only go in one way, so how do i know if i advanced the timing or not

Would that set off the Check engine Light??

check your code....im not sure what car your workng with.(obd0 obd 1 obd 2) the dist. is moveable. set it somewhere in the middle. meaning loosen all three bolts and turn the dist all the way left and all the way right to get a feeling for the middle. (best way i can describe it to him sorry). ideally you would want a timing light. manual will explain more on this.
