Default Turbo question

So i have decided to buy a turbo but i don't know anything about the different brands. After the turbo i want to convert my ls to an ls-vetc. What brands do you think i would be best to go with?

You are going to need a lot more than just a turbo.

I really recommend that you don't do an LS-vtec conversion since the LS already has low compression and you will be able to focus on the important parts of a turbo system like engine management and fueling.

^agreed, your going to need a lot for the turbo, and quite a bit of money with that...having a turbo ls-v is possible...but it would require a shitload of maintenance (sp?) as well as just a lot of time.money.work so i'd suggest doing 1 or the other....my vote is for the turbo

I will respond to a vague question with a vague answer: all turbos are good.

Seriously, though...you need to give us some power goals, budget, etc.

You need to tell us if you are shutting for high numbers, lowend power, highend power, things like that!

Still too vague. What are your power goals? What is the car used for? Do you have to pass smog?

heres a few options

- if you live in CA - Greddy is the only legal one
- if you have A LOT of money and want A LOT of power - Full-Race is the best
- Drag is kind of an economy line but will make great power
- revhard will make medium power, for a reasonable price, but the quality and customer service is questionable...

those are just a few options, there are thousands out there...u need to set a specific HP goal, or what your car will be used for primarily... if this is a daily driver, ur not going to want a 400hp beast, adversely, if this is a track only car, your not going to want anything cheap w/ mediocre power....

thats what they mean when they say they want more details, i suggest you find out exactly what you want out of the car, then spend your hard earned money

just my .02

Well my power goals when i'm done i would like anywhere from 300whp to 350whp but from a turbo for now i was thinking like 220whp 230whp. umm i was trying to look up the smog laws for oregon and i didn't find anything. My car is a daily driver. I want to make sure that my stock b18b1 can handle what turbo i put on it.
