Default Headgasket

Is it possible to just lift the head up with 2 people while the other pulls out the gasket and replaces it with a new one? I gotta change my gasket and need to do it fast. Thanks guys!

It would probably help to remove the head bolts first... unless those guys are really strong.

Why do you need to change the head gasket? If your head gasket needs to be replaced, you should have the head checked for cracks and have it machined. You wouldn't want to re-install a warped head on a new gasket.

I had the head done up about a month ago! But due to timing I could not buy and new headgasket. So I reused the stock one. It's leaking a slight bit and the car is slow as shit so I wanna replace it. Peace of mind.

Just make sure you don't put it on upside-down like I did once when I did the headgasket that way. h:

I'm sorry... why would you re-use the old head gasket??? I would have gone out of my way to find a new head gasket before I installed the new head. Now you have to do the work twice.

Well I was moving to fl and I could only use my friends garage when he said it was opened. So The guy call;s me at 4pm and tells me to be there at 7pm to get started. It was a saturday and Sunday I was leaving to fl so I could not find anyone who could get it for me. So I had no choice. Well I have the gasket now and will be installing it hopefully today or tomm.

Shmoo I can't see myself doing that but I can't say I will never do it cause shit happends. I installed a tranny on a sohc and once I put everything together I saw that part of the harness was caught between the tranny and motor so I had to take everything off again. Just life!!!!!!!

You had another head done ahead of time, right? You knew you were going to install the new head? Why not order the gasket at the same time?

all you need is yourself. i dont see why you need an extra person just to put on the gasket as 2 people are holding up the head. i mean its like a 3 step progress, take head off and place it aside, put gasket on, pick head back up and put it on(i did mine all by my lonesome). dont get me wrong, an extra 4 hands is always helpful, but dont base your whole install on how fast you can do it...
