Default 96 GSR engine - 90 GS 5spd tranny (will this work?)

Hey,

Just got a quick question.

Theirs a guy locally that wants to buy my car as a parts car. I just wanted to know if my 90 GS 5 speed tranny would work with a 96 GSR engine
If so, let me know the specifics, and if not, let me know what the best option would be.

If anyone has a better idea, let me know.

Thx.

not necessarily, it depends on the clutch sys on the chasis h: otherwise any b series tranny with bolt up 2 any b series engine. but a 90 ls (gs, ls same thing) tranny (long geared) with a gsr would make it slow, but if u have 2, go ahead. make sure the clutch system on the chasis is a CABLE setup, otherwise go with a hydro tranny. so u have a 96gsr? if so, u have a hyrdo. clutch sys, and would need to convert it all to cable setup. otherwise get a 94+ tranny preferably a gsr tranny...

Well, the car started out a 93. Swapped a 96 GSR engine in it, using the stock 93 tranny. Now the 3rd gear sincros are fawked. Right now the clutch is a cable one... if that makes any diffenrece.

About power, what are we talking about? Gearing, or what? And how long would the 90 GS tranny last with the 96 GSR engine?

Thx.

It all depends how good the GS tranny is. And to answer your first question the GS tranny will work with the GSR motor as long as the chasis is from 90-93. My friend has a 95 GSR motor on his 92 Integra and hes using the 92 LS tranny and it works great

well the ls tranny (gs) is long geared. so that makes acceleration slower for the gsr, otherwise if u dont care about that it works great (im not sure how much the difference is about acceleration though...)
