96 GSR engine - 90 GS 5spd tranny (will this work?)
Hey,
Just got a quick question.
Theirs a guy locally that wants to buy my car as a parts car. I just wanted to know if my 90 GS 5 speed tranny would work with a 96 GSR engine
If so, let me know the specifics, and if not, let me know what the best option would be.
If anyone has a better idea, let me know.
Thx.

Well, the car started out a 93. Swapped a 96 GSR engine in it, using the stock 93 tranny. Now the 3rd gear sincros are fawked. Right now the clutch is a cable one... if that makes any diffenrece.
About power, what are we talking about? Gearing, or what? And how long would the 90 GS tranny last with the 96 GSR engine?
Thx.

well the ls tranny (gs) is long geared. so that makes acceleration slower for the gsr, otherwise if u dont care about that it works great (im not sure how much the difference is about acceleration though...)
