Default ECU Question

I see P06, P28, and the like. Which OBDI do I need for my 98 GSR motor? What are the differences?

I'm guessing that P72 OBDI is simply an earlier model for the same car..

For full functionality of everything and correct fuel/ignition maps if you decide not to chip it, a P72 is the best choice. You can go with a P28 and chip it, but you won't have functionality of your knock sensor or secondary butterflies.

Well, running a P73 right now (not by choice) the secondaries are wired open at all times anyhow. If I were to chip it (without mods at this point), what would be the advantage over a stock OBD2 P72?

Also, where can I score a P72 at a good price... Any suggestions/ideas?

OBD2 P72 ECU's are practically being given away. You can find them for around $50 on ebay.

OBD1 P72 ECU's are quite expensive and pretty hard to find in non-chipped condition. You can find a few on ebay, but they will run around $220 or so. I just got an OBD1 P72 from some guy off Honda-tech for $165, so you can find them cheaper, but it is pretty hard to do so.

I guess the chip programming is specifically tuned to it's previous owner?

But how does a virgin OBD1 P72 compare to an OBD2 P72?
