Default MPG vs. Flywheel Weight

Will a lightweight flywheel give you better fuel mileage or worse?

Won't make a big difference. I never saw a difference with my old GTi.

If anything, you'll likely spend more time at high rpm enjoying the faster engine response. Guess what that would lead to...h:

I didn't notice a decrease in fuel efficiency.

No difference. The only difference is that I tend to drive it a little harder with the stronger clutch in, so that will probably decrease mileage. If you maintain your same driving techniques, you won't notice a difference.

A little. The tranny is very heavy when you are on your back trying to push it up to the engine when the car is on jackstands. It is a very involved project, so if you don't have the tools, time, and resources, don't attempt it.

My thought was you are reducing the drag on the engine thus using less fuel to get it up to speed when applying the same amount of gas.

:dunno: I didn't notice any increase or decrease with mine either.
