Default GSR to TYPE R tranny...good or bad

i have a 95 GSR and was thinking of putting in a type R tranny cuz of the LSD. mine has 92k on it and its fine but y not get one w/ less miles and LSD on it. IT SHOULD bolt right up right? also i was looking on ebay and i saw a few that said it was a 6 speed.....type Rs come 6 speeds?

You were possibly looking at a RSX-R tranny. Don't get confused!

Tegs don't come in 6speed tranny.

the lsd connects to the shaft coming off of the transmission.. it has nothing to do with the transmission itself.
the type r tranny will make your car slightly quicker, but it will also have you cruising 60mph at around 3.5k vs 3k... and it will lower your theoretical top speed.
the 6 speed type r transmissions are from the dc5 type r most likely, otherwise they are aftermarket transmisssions or something

if you want just the lsd and keep your gsr tranny you can.

All DC2 ITRs came to market with FIVE speed transmissions ONLY.

More to the point, any 6-speed trans from a DC5 JDM ITR will NOT bolt up to the B-series mills. Period. Don't bother bidding.

dude you can drop an LSD into the GSR hydro tranny quite easily. Im gonna do a compelte write up on mine when I get it and isntall it. You need 2 diff ball bearings from honda, order them at acuraoemparts.com for $33 each. You need 2 and you need an 80mm thrust washer to set thrust clearance between the tranny case and the diff. I bet thoe whole deal will cost me $300 no more.
