Sometimes, sometimes...when you get on it like that you tend to blow some shit out. However if it keeps doing it everytime you get on it, it most likely needs some tuning.

 

just did my plugs and wires and oil change and it ran fine. i then had my ECU reprogramed to pump a little bit more fuel and yep black smoke too when i drop gears. not sure if it hurts the car(probably) but it hurts my wallet espically since its 93 octane=( and in Buff. NY its about $3.50/gal

 

it's porbably hurting the car your performance and your wallet, get the ecu or whatever you did to the car back to stock ASAP.

i'm saying this as a concerned teg owner, knowing the dc2 is a dying breed.

It's perfectly natural to blow smoke when you hit high RPM's because you're pushing so much fuel. Even more so if you have an aftermarket exhaust.

Haven't you ever noticed how a cars exhaust increases just before they start speeding up. They stomp the gas, the engine goes crazy, a lot more smoke becomes visable and then the car goes faster. I now that I used to watch my buddies tail pipes when I rode bikes in a group because I could actually see the extra exhaust before I would hear their engines rev up. That way I could hit the gas not long after they did and I wouldn't fall behind.

Now if it's blue or white you should get the car checked.
