brakes giving me worries

Relevance is irrelevant
Um, usually if they squeak it's ok for a little while, but you should always check to get an idea of how much pad is left. It's really simple to do, and if you'll search for replacing pads I'm sure you'll find out how to DIY.
Good luck, gotta go.

If it is constant you may be down to the clip. If sounds like metal on metal and your rotor looks chewed up then your way over due. Most abnormal squeeks are cause by imperfections that arise in the brake pad. It does not reduce your stopping power, but can be annoying as hell and sometimes a little loud.

if you have semi-metallic or metallic pads then you're going to be experiencing some squeeking because of the metal to metal contact and you should be fine. like everyone else said i would check the wear on the pads and see where they're at, then you can tell whether or not you need pads.
