Default quick question on gsr octane

i know that it says it requires at least 91 etc..etc.. heres my problem; as i filled up with gas today(46 bux for 11.5 gallons) i was talkin to the owner and asked him why premium was 50 cents more a gallon than regular.. he told me it was becuase in the area premium is very very hard to come by now and by next week he(and the surrounding gas stations) may not have any. (this is in pennsylvania by the way). so my question is, if i had to, could i run a bottle of octane boost with 87 or 89? and i dont beat on my car cuz i cant afford to, i drive about 80 miles a day so i need to squeeze every ounce of mpg out of it.

i suggest find another station to fill up on. usually it takes just a few more dollars to fill up with 91 than 87. i mean like 3 bucks or so. you bought a car that takes premium gas, you have to live up to that requirement. dont go cheap and put in 87.

If you can buy octane booster in bulk, say at Costco or another "warehouse" store, then buy all means try it. Just be precise and consistent about the ratio of petrol to octane boost.

But frankly, I'm surprised at the gap between mid-grade and premium. For as long as I can remember, the grades have been separated by about 10¢/gal.

Tests on octane boosters have determined that they don't work... at all.
