Default Starting problems. any suggestions?

I own a 98 integra gsr. when i have been starting it lately it sputters really bad and the check engine lite came on. it drives fine but starts bad. the check engine lite went off after a couple of days and i changed the spark plugs. someone told me it was bad gas and to put dry gas in my tank to suck up any water. this did not help. when i start the car it sputters and it seems like its gonna stall. can anyone explain to me whats going on? I thought the throttle bodies might need cleaned? any suggestions?

Well if it drives fine, I don't think it's going to have to do with your plugs or wires. hmm..

sputters.. so you turn the key.. do you hear the car trying to turn over? gears pops? clicks?

Maybe your valves are gunked up. Try injector cleaner and some sort of fuel additive with detergent.

youre giving us a very broad problem. we defintley need more info and what youve checked. or we can be guessing forever, which is a waste of time. i suggest you get a service manual and go over all the solutions and check them one by one. then get back to us.

The car has 55,000 miles on it. i put some fuel injector cleaner and some dry gas in the tank. it sounds like the problem is coming from the cat or the exhaust?

Retrieve the Check Engine Light code first.
Without it, we're just blindly guessing.

Use this link for the instructions on how-to. The code chart is included.

Does it crank okay? What did the spark plugs look like when you pulled them? Have you made any modifications or repairs lately? How are your spark plug wires?

The plugs were pretty white on the tips they were pretty much fouled. No new mods but it has a cat-back exhaust system and an intake.
