Default fuel shut-off?

i have a 1990 acura integra that i have had some trouble with.2 years ago i pulled up to a stop light and the car just shut off. i had my mechanic replace the fuel pump and the distributer and everything worked fine for a while. i recently gave the car to a friend and now it is doing basically the same thing. she shut the car off last night, and this morning it would not start. it turns over fine but it will not fire or get any fuel. is there anyone out there that can help me with this dillemma? i can not afford to take this car to another mechanic and neither can my friend.
