Default am I getting ripped off?

First off, I know nothing about cars. It's embarrassing but true. However I love this integra and I'm on this site to learn as much as i can so i can keep this car as long as possible. I have a 1992 acura integra gs (automatic). I recently took it to the shop and I think it was pretty obvious to them that i had no clue, and i think they might have charged too much. Once again, i have no idea so please tell me what you think.

diagnostic svc. - engine labor $35.00

replace fuel filter labor $35.00 (I already bought the actual fuel filter)

enviornmental wast fee $1.99

fuel system clean kit $29.99

fuel system clean labor $40.00

spark plugs - new $17.00 (4 at $4.25 a piece)

plug wires - new $44.00

distributor cap - new $19.98

rotor button - -new $11.88

tune up labor $98.00

does this all sound about right?

those are pretty good prices considering someone else did all the work, I would continue going to this mechanic.

id say buy a chilton and a decent craftsman or snap-on tool kit and learn to do most everything urself, save u tons of money. though those prices are pretty good for someelse doing it.

When they say 'fuel system clean kit & labor', what exactly did they do? Because some places will charge $100 for that job and all they end up doing is pouring some fuel injection cleaner in your gas tank to clean the injectors, something you can obviously do yourself for about $7 a bottle (techron concentrate).

all of that is basic maintenance. simple shit that a novice can handle with a shop manual

i added it up, 332.84 bones

my estimates~~~if you wouldve done it

diagnostic svc. - engine labor none

replace fuel filter labor $20.00

enviornmental wast fee none

fuel system clean kit $6.00

fuel system clean labor none

spark plugs - new $8.00 (4 at $2.00 a piece)

plug wires - new $35-45.00

distributor cap - new $19.98

rotor button - -new $11.88

tune up labor $none

grand total= ~100 bucks

next time do it yourself, save money, learn your car

Those are fair prices.

Some of that stuff is really easy to do yourself though.

the fuel filter is the trickiest thing on the list to install. everything else is childs play. if you cant do basic maintenance on your car, maybe you should be ripped off.
