Default Rattle after new clutch and flywheel--HELP!

After installing an Exedy organic clutch (from ebay) and an ACT streetlight flywheel, I am getting a rattle/rumble while slipping the clutch. Any ideas or experience are greatly appreciated.

I'd say throwout bearing as well. Did you lgrease it up before you installed it?

Did you clean the pressure plate and flywheel mating surfaces? If you don't clean the protecting oil off, it will have some nasty clutch chatter.

Hey Shmoo, didn't you say you had clutch chatter?

Yes, a little bit. It is normal with an upgraded clutch.

What is tripping me out is the lightweight flywheel sounding like a sack of marbles in my transmission when I engage the clutch. I guess it is normal.

how long do you have before a faulty/old clutch ruins your manual transmission? how is the damage done?

I am about to put a new clutch in. I'll make sure i keep surfaces clean and grease the bearing. Exedy clutches are okay right? How much you guys pay for yur new clutches? I just want a standard one that'll last a few years

Also make sure you grease the hell out of the bearing sliding surface and the throwout arm pivot point. I used rubbing alcohol to get all the dirt and oil off the flywheel and pressure plate surfaces before I installed the clutch disk. If you are reusing your flywheel, you need to get it resurfaced as well.

I paid $604 shipped for my ACT HDSS and 8.8lb Prolite flywheel. An OEM will run much less and if you just resurface the flywheel, it should only run an additional $20-30.
