Default Door Lock Problem...Please Help

Okay, I have just discovered a problem with my driver side automatic door locking mechanism. Just the other day, I started up my 97 GSR and as you most know, when you start to go the locks automatically lock the door for you. So when this happened (it scared the $%#@ out of me) it didn't lock, and it made this loud popping sound like a machine gun. Almost like something was stopping it from locking. Even when I get out of my car and I try to lock my door with my alarm keypad, the door won't lock. I have to manually stick the key in the hole to lock the door. So if anybody has ever had this problem or knows what and how to fix this...Please Enlighten Me. Thanks for the help!

My 95 does that. Its sporatic though so I usually just ignore it. I may be wrong, but I thought it was the alarm that caused the doors to lock when you start the car.

You might be right, that the alarm causes the doors to lock when you start the car. But that's not my problem, my problem is that the door won't lock when I hit the lock button on the keypad. I have to manually put the key in and lock it...I shouldn't have to do that. Why won't the dumb thing lock?....It was just working the other day!

Maybe you need a new keypad. However, since you said that it didn't lock that one time, but made that noise, makes me wonder if there's a wire messed up somewhere. If you got it installed somewhere, I'd take it there and ask them.

take your door panel off and check the metal bars and actuator. the actuator is a little motor that moves your door lock. its sounds like something is broken mechanically in the door.

Try just doing it manually, to lock the door while it is OPEN, you must pull the inner door handle out and then push the lock button. You may k now this, you may not, but you wont believe how many integra owners I have had to tell this, they all thought their lock was broken. Your prob. is a little different, but maybe somethigns just out of sync.

Sometimes my driverside will try to lock but only makes it halfway and goes back to the unlocked position. I've taken the door pannel off but it worked fine. seeing as it only does it accasonally I can't say if the door cover is the problem or not.

that usually happens on most hondas if the drivers door is open. if the door is closed, thats a different story.
