I'm still shopping for an ITR, so I forgive a newb question:

Exactly where is the Type R numbered placard located in the car?

Also, I read somewhere that only 500 Type Rs were sold for each model production year -- is that true? If not, about how many ITRs are out there? Are the numbers contiguous, or do they start over for each year?

they start over each year.

on the center console, between the driver and passenger seats, will be a tag. It will say INTEGRA TYPE-R, and then ACURA (YEAR) - (NUMBER).

 

Except for 97s, which didn't have the year on the plaque.

As for the total #s of cars, that's up for debate, but 00/01 are closer to 1500 per year.

 

The ITR I'm checking out right now shows a number in the 1500s. I don't have it right in front of me, but I think it's 1563, so Acura made at least a few more than 1500 even.

 

They made thousands of them, and the US/CDN cars had plaques taken from the same bucket in general. That doesn't mean they sold a total of more than 1500 though. In 97 there are cars over the 500 range also but quite a bit less than 500 were sold here.
