Default 400hp Type R

Is it possible to get 400hp (with a turbo) out of a Type R WITHOUT a HEI(high energy ignition system)? I am under the impression that if you throw on a turbo and expect to get the most out of it then you would need a stronger spark amongst other things. Any response would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Yes, there are plenty of 400whp plus cars around running totally stock ignition. On stock pistons though, you won't achieve 400whp, as I'm sure you know that. If you study capacitive discharge ignition boxes, you'll find that they offer little benefit at higher RPM ranges, for example the MSD units are only able to maintain multiple spark events up to slightly above 3K rpm. So research before you buy.
