What are the benefits of insulating the exhaust header? What are the disadvantages?

By wrapping the header, you lower relative temperature in the engine bay and help the header retain heat which speeds up exhaust flow.

Negatives?

-I personally think its just ugly
- some would argue the extreme concentrated heat can prematurely damage ceramic coated headers.

Wrapping the header put less heat stress on your radiator, hoses, and ac condensor.
