Gone for 4 Years
Personally take R w/ you so you'll have something to get around. Otherwise find a trustworthy friend or a family member you can trust who drive a manual to drive it for you. If that dont work then you might need to sell & get another one later or Type s. good luck w/ getting that education..
I say store it. At the rate ITR's are going bad these days you might have a hard time replacing it. (From what I've seen on autotrader anyways...) More and more of them are getting salvage titles and getting all riced out or raced n' shit so...
I'd say store it.
I'd say store it.
I saw put it on block and dont forget about it. And when you come back you can drive it and it will be like the good ol times. 4 years huh? It doesent seem like that long in life really. But when you are talking about a ITR.. Its really a long time. Im sure you will have fun there. My freind played for Hawaii in college foot ball and is now pro. Good luck man and god bless.
If you really love the car, then store it well. I wouldn't trust anyone, I don't care who, with my car-- if you really want to keep it like new.
If you aren't too attached to it, sell it, and then buy something else after you graduate. Who knows, in 4 years, there may be a RSX-R you might want or something.

i just found out i can't ship my car to hawaii. some kind of standard called RECON won't let me ship my car over with the JDM Front End. If anyone has any details or URL links please post!
So, that clears up any ideas of shipping it over.
Although I've been told to sell it, because I'll want something better after four years, and all the ITR will do is depreciate in value for the time I'm gone; I'm really attached to the car, and would rather not part with it.
My dad agreed to use it as a weekend driver, and get it's oil changed every 3 months. I think this won't be so bad. I just have to leave him a lump sum of money to cover the oil changes.
Any input on this decision?

Like I said before, If you store it correctly there is no need to drive it or start it.
there is a bunch of items avalibe to protect the cyclinder walls from moisture, and as for the battery... Take it out and toss it. After four years you would need another one anyway.
This Is what I would do.
Find a very safe garage that has some sort of climate control- or atleast a garage that does not have extreme climate changes.
change all the fluids, use normal stuff and normal levels.
fill gas tank to the very very top and add the fuel stabilzer.
find out what they use for boats and jetski... there is a foam like spray that coats the cyclinder wall, apply
jack car up, place all jackstands high enough that the wheels can freely hang, then place wood under each tire so the suspension does not have full hang, just an inch up from full drop.
Before you close all windows and vents, vacuum and clean the interior to perfection.
Clean and apply wax and car cover.
disconect battery and take out of car, place on plastic away from car.
then when your ready to drive the caR in 4 years drain everything, replace put new battery and let it warm up for atleast two cycles.
For security of the car, keep battery, distributor rotor and ECU in another place
I might have missed something... But you get my drift.
