Default Hello, new to forums

Hey everyone, just recently got me a 2001 GS-R and i love it so i decided to sign up to the forums, i used to have a 03 civic ex, it was nice but nothing compared to the GS-R.

I have a question to start out with. The car came with a loud ricey exhaust, i think its a greddy evo 2 and im wanting to exchange the axle back with something quite, maybe ITR or mugen, but i need to know some diameters, i need to know diameters of stock GS-R, and the ITR exhaust systems, can anyone help me out pls. Also, im not looking to lose power, if anything i wouldnt mind an upgrade.

If I remember correctly, the stock exhaust piping is 2 inches. Sorry, don't know about ITR.

Welcome to the forums!

Stock, at least on a 94 LS sedan, is 2.5 or 2.25.

If the exhaust is a full catback, you can't really upgrade since the piping is already 2.36" and any wider will cause a loss in torque because of exhaust stagnation. An ITR will not be an upgrade in that case. If it is just the muffler, upgrade the piping to something wider, or take the muffler off completely and upgrade to an axle or catback that is quieter like an ITR, comptech, Apexi World sport, or Greddy SP2.

And a Greddy Evo 2 isn't rice, it is actually a really nice exhaust. I have one, so I should know.

It is 2".

Most aftermarket exhaust systems don't even have 2.5" piping.

Thanks for all the help, and thank you for the welcome, yea greddy EVO 2 isn't rice but i really want a quiet exhaust so i can really hear the engine well, i am thinking either ITR full cat back and sell greddy, or a mugen replica axle-back, the twin loop. (The real mugen is way out of my price range lol).

most off the shelf exhausts from american companies are 2.25". japanese companies have 60mm, or 2.36".
