catback exhaust or header?
which who give my gsr more gains if i had one choice?
from my understanding 4-1 has more midrange but 4-2-1 more high end, or did i get that backwards?
which leads me to this question...
how much more midrange compared to how much more high end,
i mean if it was 10% more midrange increase compared to 5% more highend increase, then i would choose the one with a greater percentage difference.

Yes.. you got it backwards. A 4-1 Header will not give you good low end or mid range.... all about upper Rpm's with a 4-1. A 4-2-1 header will give you better all around. And yes... i would choose a header over catback. Being that you have a GSR.... I would go with a Nice 4-1 Header.... Maybe even an OEM ITR 4-1 Header. You will not be dissapointed

a really nice catback will give you an ample amount of power. after i got my Apexi put on my gs-r, i immediately noticed a gain in low-end torque and mid-high range hp. Of course, my old exhaust was getting clogged and robbed of power, but after i put my 4-2-1 dc header on it, the engine just hums beautifully. I would recommend getting a cat-back first, a NICE one. Don't get fooled by shops who custom make them and put a crappy muffler in the back. Mufflers are just as important as the whole exhaust.
