On my GSR, you have to remove the flywheel cover to access 3 of the oil pan bolts. I don't know if it is the same for an LS.
The hardest part is trying to keep the gasket on the pan as you mate it to the block. You don't need any sealant, just torque the nuts to spec (9 ft/lbs) in a crosswise fashion and it will seal itself.
There's no real trick, it's pretty straight forward. You may have to remove the header, but I've heard of people doing it without that step. Make sure you don't get any kind of contaminants/debris in the oil pan before you put it back up. I'd clean it out nicely with some brake cleaner. Also, don't overtorque the nuts, you don't want to break any. Refer to the manual for the tightening sequence.

Keeping the gasket lined up to the bolt holes while you put the pan back in its place is easy as raping the willing. Throw a SMIDGE of assembly lube on the bottom of the gasket so when you lay it on top of the pan it wont move when you try to align the holes up for the bolts. cake.
Sealer is a good idea but i never ran into problems with leaks after changing it. I might have been one of the lucky ones.

Hondabond works wonders.
