Default HID Problems

My driver side HID did something strange tonight. As I was going home from work, it started flickering; and then it went out all together.

At first, I thought oh shoot, the bulb burned out. But I talked to my friend who's had HID's for a while, and told me that it's a loose wire. I checked all the wires, and nothing seems to be loose (however, it's dark outside; and I was using a flash light).

I tried starting it again, and checking the light. When I was on the outside checking the light, I noticed something else. The driver's side light is no longer that nice blue-ish/white, but now a dim flickering white-ish/yellow. Then it shuts off.

If anyone knows what this is, before I go back to the place that sold them to me, please let me know!

agreed^^^ and make sure all your connections are nice and tight, cuase mine has gone off before, i just re push in all my wires and it comes back on, also make sure its not touching ground your connections that is if the metal is open that plugs into your lights.

if there is moisture in the connections, is it just a matter of letting it dry out?

and there's no way it could be a blown fuse, right?

If the fuse was blown, it wouldn't work at all.....

Have you tried switching from left to right to see what works and doesn't?

i'm going to try that this weekend, that thought had occurred to me as well.

also, my friend's brother is an electrician, and he said he'd check it out too. hopefully, it's nothing about the hardware, and it's something that's jiggled itself loose, or possibly the bulb. i really hope it's not the actual headlight, because then i have to go through the hassle of return it, and get another one (if they'll take it).

it's too soon for it to malfunction though, even if it's used. HID didn't appear on ITR's until '98, so, it should still be in good working order for a while.

well, i haven't touched my HID Housing, but today I thought I'd turn it on, just to see if something might have knocked into place by driving. Turning on my lights, the passenger side works fine. The driver's side however, the HID light doesn't turn on at all. All the other lights are working fine. Perhaps it's the bulb, eh?
