Are there any long terms effects on a car if you dont have a muffler? I let my wife drive my 92 teg and she brought it back with the muffler draggin so i just took it off. Besides it being louder are there any side effects to running no muffler. I know this is probably a stupid question but id like to know.

 

I don't think so. Increases hp slightly. Careful with cops though.

 

i live in alabama cops arnt much of a issue here unless your showing out. does it give you more hp then a performance muffler or about the same? it actually sounds decent though, i might keep it.

 

won't get the best mpg.I'm not to sure about that it'll make your car faster...it'll deff make the car sound like crap though.

 

it gets about 27-30 mpg, its got 163,XXX miles on it and its all pretty much factory. I think thats pretty good gas mileage. Either way i will just get a cat back for it, whats a decent one for a fairly decent price. Just a word of advise, dont let wives/girlfriends drive cars alone, mine somehow tore the muffler off of my 92 gs teg and my 91 240sx.... she doesnt know how it happens....

 

My buddy has a '99 GSR with no muffler and we both think it sounds really good. Also, I don't see how that could be true about gas mileage since he is averaging like 31-34 mpg and gets on it occasionally. (Don't ask me how he does it.)

Just make sure theres nowhere for the carbon monoxide to seep into your car or you'll go sleepy on the freeway and might never wake up ;]]]
