tranmission fluid

Default tranmission fluid

wanting to try some diff fluid my shifting is really ridgidy kinda pissing me off... its a usdm type-r tranny with 4k on it .. i havent abused it so i dont think anythings wrong with it... but one of my buddies tryed synchromesh in his gsr and it got rid of his problem.. any suggestions on what fluid to use?

I've always used OEM fluid.

Synchromesh is more a bandaid than anything. If your tranny is grinding with only 4k miles on it, you have some serious problems. I always use the recommended OEM fluid and my tranny has almost 140k miles on it with no grinds whatsoever.

i see... theres no grinds at all just kinda ridgidy shifting if ya know what im talking about

That is pretty normal with Honda transmissions.

Maybe you just need to change the tranny fluid. Mine gets a little stiff if I go too long between changes. I have been using Redline MTL in mine since about 30,000 miles, and now have almost 130,000

The recommended interval for changing transmission fluid is 30,000 miles I believe. I have heard of people useing Syncromesh and having trouble with the gears slipping back out.

Yep, thats the only way, I have tried it all, and everything fails at 9,000rpm, but the honda fluid for me.

Perhaps I was unclear. I have been using the REdline MTL, and changing it about every 30K since the first change
