Default The Best Way To Shut A CF Hood?

I'm going to be getting my new OEM Style VIS Carbon Fiber hood in this week (hopefully) and I just had a little question. Since the hood is going to be lighter and (I presume) a bit more flemsy (sp?)...I was wondering what the best way to shut the hood is. I don't want to slam it (which I never did with my steel hood) and I don't want to get it on the latch and press down on it b/c that will cause stress cracks. What I normally do with my steel hood is hold it about 1" to 2" above the latch and let it drop down and latch itself. Is that the best way to shut a CF hood too? Please let me know, and thanks in advance.

That's what I'd do, just high enough from the latch for it to click in by itself, followed by a gentle push down to make sure she's set.. hook us up with some pics when you get that set up!

i used to gently pushed down evenly on the hood with my hands, either that or i would let it come down a few inches above the latch. if you drop it from 1-2 inches from the latch it wouldnt close due to the weight of the hood being so light.

when i had my CF hood, there was no way that it would have latched by dropping it. you must push it down for it to latch. I put my hand directly over the latching mechanism and pushed hard till I heard the hood latch. that is the only way that i could think to do it... i never really thought too much about it... i guess just my first instinct

If you've got a quality hood and you press down over the latch striker, there should be no problem. If the hood can't handle 55lbs of pressure there, then I wouldn't run it on the street. h:

Have you considered having the CF hood shot with another round of UV protectant clear-coat? It wouldn't be a bad idea, IMO.
