As an example, I helped a friend with Mk I Golf GTi switch over to a fuel cell [as he built up the car for Group N rally]. The original gas tank had held up for 250,000 miles. When we drained it, that thing was gunked up with some nasty crap -- and it wasn't rust. :ugh:

how to clean this gunk? not sure if my 57K car has it, but sounds scray.

If you make routine use of a fuel injector cleaner, you're fine.

I get right on 30mpg,

Run till the light comes on and then fill up. Get's to be about 300 miles.

Thanks, this confirms my mpg is similar with everyone else's.

My gas bill was $450-500/month with the SVT Lightning.

It's now only $130/month with the 'Teg. Me likey the savings $$$

both times i drove from my house to Toronto, Ontario, Canada (~600 miles) i would fill back up once just outside of the Lewistown Bridge (border point). then i would arrive in Toronto with about 3/4 of tank left.

I average around 30 mpg.

my average is 31 mpg mix city and hiway. the best ive ever gotten is 35 mpg keeping it at 55-60 mph on a canadian 1 lane hiway following a GM mini van (at a distance that is). my milage improved drastically with my Apexi WS catback
