Hey guys, need some help, not familiar with these. This is a Fidanza B-series flywheel with some wear and some rust.

I need your opinion on this, if turning it (resurfacing) and cleaning it (to remove rust) are going to get this back into shape. From my personal examination I would say yes, but like I said, I'm not that familiar with flywheels so I may not know what to look for. Please check photos for other possible problems as well.

The contact surface side doesn't look too bad. The main things you have to worry about is warpage and heat damage marks. The heat damage marks look like metal that is heated that turns a blueish purpleish color. My last clutch was fried and they had to replace the flywheel because the wheel was warped around those marks because of the intense heat.

The flywheel in the pics looks like it could be refinished and reinstalled with no problems at all.

One other peice of information. This flywheel has approximately 40-50K miles on it. My car has 142k miles on it, so I'm assuming with normal driving this flywheel is going to outlast my 91 Teg. Anybody know how long a Fidanza flywheel is supposed to last in miles? Thanks.

 

It needs to be resurfaced. Fidanza flywheels can have the contact surface replaced. Screws hold it to the flywheel.
