Low compression & misfire...

If you did a leak down test you should have been able to detemine where the leaking air is going which should tell you if it's a valve or rings.....(don't they teach this stuff anymore?) It's really basic, if you take off the oil cap and you hear escaping air from the crankcase you have a ring problem, if you open your airbox and hear it it's an intake valve, if you put your ear close to the exhaust pipe and hear it it's an exhaust valve.

Come to find out that everything is all well and good. I changed out the cap and rotor and everything works grand. The compression is good across the board. The tech that read the gauge read it wrong. That's all she wrote! Thanks guys.

when doing a leak down test u can tell what the problem is just from using your ears and eyes. if air is blowing by rings take oil cap or dipstick out and listen closely for air coming through. if blowing by intake valve listen at throttle body and if blowing by exhaust u have someone listen at the tail pipe but remember lsiten carefully and my money is on either valves or a a ruined valve seat chipped valve bent valve ect...

Sup,
I did a compression test on my 98 Itr motor and it was 200-215 all across and my leakdown was under 8%. I never heard of 250psi numbers? I have heard of that on a b16b motor.

i thought the b18c5 ran at a higher compression then the b16b?
