Default New guy, new guy question

Do you think an automatic 97 LS Sedan is worth throwing any mods on to make it a lil quicker, or should I save up for a newer faster model? I've had it for over a year and it drives fine, but I love speed.

not really a new question, but if you really want speed, i suggest you switch you a MT. Our AT trannys really suck and they can't take much unless you upgrade big like level 10. If you like the sedan, get the sedan GSR!.. if money is an issue, just get an LS and maybe throw up a turbo.

The automatic transmission is the deal-killer.
They aren't very efficient as a rule and they're fragile.

The only way to make an modded auto Integra worthwhile is to turbocharge it, but you'll spend additional funds overhauling and reinforcing the transmission internals.

If you don't give a damn about resale value and you're mechanically inclined, it's fairly simple to convert to a manual transmission. Otherwise, I'd sell the automatic DB Integra and pick up a manual trans model.

And the weight difference between the DB sedans and DC coupes is barely worth mentioning. Both platforms are equally capable.

Yeah I figured it being an automatic would be part of the problem for getting it a little quicker. I actually got the 4-door thinking I would save on car insurance but that kinda backfired. I guess they still get stolen a lot. The next car I buy will have to be a manual. And hopefully a GSR

I don't how your used-car market is doing out in Colorado, but out here in Cali, the market is flooded with DC4s and a fair number of DB7s. So, if you've got the operating funds to make the change now, it's certainly doable.

I personally would never mod an auto Honda. I think its stupid, nor would I own a sedan at that. However that's just my opinion. If you want a much better platform to start with, ditch the Auto LS Sedan and find a cheap GSR coupe, and they're all manuals so don't worry about not finding a manual.
