my gf have a 98 teg LS auto, and lately her car seem to be not running as good as it should...i done all maintenance including spark plugs, filter, oil change, make sure all fluids are filled, etc.....when she accelarate the pedal seem to be hard and when she goes above 60mph and want to go faster it takes a while to get up in speed....i was thinking of doing the valve adjustment to see if that fix the problem....anybody else have any other suggestion?
have you done fuel filter? You said filter, but thought you meant air filter. Fuel filter is a simple replacement that can make a huge difference if the old one is clogged.
are you running any mods like an intake, autos really suck with the AC on... well they suck period. do you have any vaccume leaks? that could cause a slow response.
all these people who say sell your car, or auto's suck, aren't helping, and I don't think it's appreciated.
They're saying that because if it is just a stock auto ls teg, it is slow to begin with and this girl is probably just getting used to the speed of her car.
you are missing the point here. He is asking why the car is acting slower than normal. Not how to make it faster.
I'm sorry, i didn't really mean it as a negative comment, but when you're above 60mph with a AT teg, you would prob have to floor it for it to switch gears and finally go. That's what i meant by the transmission sucking, esp when you're goin uphill. It would literally take about 5-10 seconds for it to pick up speed even if you press it 3/4 .... it'll be stuck in fourth gear.
But i did suggest on any vaccume leaks, maybe the transmission fluid needs to be changed if it hasn't been already.
my gf's car is completely stock....i just want it to perform like it used to....i will looking into changing fuel filter and valve adjustment....the tranny fluid has already been flushed...
