Default just bought a 94 teg have couple questions

I just bought a 94 integra LS that’s in great condition from an old lady and she’s the original owner. So far I have put in a AEM cold air intake on it and would like to do some more mods to the car. I also noticed that my car has a lot of torque for a stock LS. For all you LS owners I would like to know what RPM do u launch at because my tire just keeps on spinning. Also what’s the best way to get some power out of this car? If I had basics on how would it perform? Also I was thinking about boosting my LS. Will it be safe if I boost on my stock engine or should I build it, and if I build it what kind of stuff should I do?

Thank you
JD

first of all how many miles is on it, is it a 5sp cuz if it anit dont bother with it, i have a 91ls and they dont have a ton of torque or im just spoiled by a gnx, but turbo is best bang for buck and once on bald front tires i keep the tires spinning all the way from 1st to half of 3rd. if you have a stock honda motor u dont have a ton of anything. ditch the aem and get a icebox. if u go straight to boost u can run a high psi on stock so save and get a rebuild but again if it auto not worth it cuz the tranny can take that much power. if you have good tires i launch on first all the way and shift nearing redline. i kick this 1 03 si everday cuz the kid cant drive for his life (they like there mini odesseys, stupid civics). there i said it but if this is your first car wait maybe you will find a nicer car and would want to sell this one.

Yes the car is 5 speed and I would never buy a auto car. to me thats just Throwing money away. thers no fun in a auto. I have good tires. I just wanted to know what RMP do u Most LS owners launch at? im still trying to play around with it. So if i plan on boosting i should get a full rebuild on my motor. how much do u think that would go for? and where could i pick up a good turbo kit for a good price.

First off, welcome to HAN.

A turbocharged LS can be quite a fun car. So, if you can cover the expense of doing the job right and you intend to keep the car for a while, go for it.

I don't drag race, so I can't speak to launch rpm. Ask in the Drag Strip forum and you'll get advice on other aspect of drag racing. And since I'm on the topic, discussions regarding illegal street racing will be locked or deleted.

Lastly, before people start recommending turbo kits... I have a question for you.
Is smog legality a concern where you live?

Yes smog legality is a big concern where I live. But I plan on buying another LS motor just to have and play around with while ill be using my current one that I have in my car.

But I don’t plan on going all out, just want a somewhat fast daily driver car that will still be reliable.

Your best bet for launching your car should be at about 4500 to 5000 w/drag radials. But on stock tires your not gonna get much traction out of that if you go over 4500 your just gonna keep spinnin and lose valuable time. Traction is everything you can have a 300 hp car and still get spank by a car with less hp if you cant catch traction.
If you want pwer boosting is the way to go. But on a stock motor dont push your luck by boosting over 6psi unless your planning to build your motor or swap. You can go more than 6psi but the wear and tear will eventually catch up sooner than you think.

:driving:
90 4dr intgr ls w/nos
91 2dr intgr b16 w/turbo
92 2dr intgr b16 w/nos

i haven't seen you state how many miles are on the car, and that's a big factor when it comes to boosting it. an LS engine that's been taken care of (and of course that doesn't have tons of miles on it) can take 6-8 psi on stock internals daily driven without a problem. but like it's already been said, you shouldn't go much, if any, higher than that, and pretty much no matter what engine you have a turbo is going to reduce the life of it at least some.

if you decide you want to boost it, make sure you research it completely before getting into anything. there's a lot more involved in boosting a car than just buying the kit and throwing it on.

oh and about the launch, try it at about 3000-3300 rpm. that usually works pretty well for me.
