91 integra rs cv joint replacement

hey im thinkin about purchasing a 91 acura integra rs but owner says it will need new cv joints. Just wondering if anyone can explain what a cv joint is and also how much this repair will cost.

:werd: The joints will probably run you about the same, if not more, than a rebuilt axle. I got a drivers side axle off ebay brand new for $80 shipped. Total of $160 for both plus an hour of labor putting them in.
