Default possible future acura owner....please help

Hey guys I need a little help. At first, I wanted to get a civic, but they are too common and I wanted a little uniqueness..

I changed my mind and I want to spend less now, probably no more than 4,000

I have been looking at 94+ acura integras which are good quick reliable cars.

but also, i like 2nd generation preludes(83-87) but really i'm not sure. Is this too old? if its too old, I suppose the 92-96 preludes rnt bad, but I like the look of the 2nd gen more, but it is soo ooooooooold.

Very confused. I am just looking for personal opinions/ advice on what kind of car I should get. Is buying a 20 yr old car asking for a carload or repair problems?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have an automatic 95 Integra RS and during the past 10 yrs, NOT a single problems...my only expenses were oil/filter changes every 6 mth, brake/transmission (drain/refill...NOT the complete one...) fluids every 2.5 yr, coolant every 2.5 yr, battery/air filter/spark plugs replaced once in yr 5, timing belt replaced in yr 8 and I still have the original Yokohama tires and original brakes (33% front/50% rear)! (oh yes, recently, one of the indicator light buld in the dashboard got burnt out!)

94 was the first year for the new Integra and I was told the power windows motor for that particular yr (early production units) were not very good and also base 95 Integra RS got dual front airbags as standard, 94 base Integra RS only has driver side airbag.

I have a 94 LS and my power windows are great. Just watch you're honda coolant temp sensors and I've heard radiators (but i haven't had a problem). Leaks from sunroofs can get nasty if leaves get caught in it and rot. Factory speakers are nasty but when are they not. Condesation in taillights is common but not really a problem. Thats about all the Integra Problems i can think of off the top of my head. But Integras are incredible cars. They're cheap, fun to drive and Honda makes the best engine out there IMO. They're fairly common so see if you can find someone that has one and will let you drive it around for a while.

BTW, I got mine for 4,000 flat and its had about 120,000 on it. I might sell it later and get a newer one with fewer miles and VTEC to smooth the powerband.

Out in Washington State, or Spokane at least, tegs aren't all that popular. Its Civics and Preludes and those Honda cars that you see no matter where you turn. Not many people have 3rd gen tegs just mainly 2nd. And most of them are completely stock. I find it sorta disappointing..

I think an Integra would be a good choice. It's a step up from the civic and definitely open to the various modification upgrades. There is so much you can do with an Integra. Have fun....
