No but if a piece of plastic is a piece of plastic, why not save the $25?
I dont know of any differences between Hondata or the other multitude of copies...anyone else have any information?
As for picking up power, not really...its moreso designed to prevent manifold heat soak, therefore decreasing IATs slightly in a situation where heatsoak would occur.
That, combined with a few other simple mods may allow a tuner to be a bit more aggressive...but other than that I wouldnt expect much.

My only reservation would be the materials used. If a cheap plastic is used it could easily melt with the temperatures of the engine considering its placement. I currently use a Hondata gasket and will be replacing it fairly soon with another Hondata gasket.
Consider tires in the same respect. You can buy a brand name for $XX.XX/ea or some cheap-o version for $50/ea less. It's all rubber, right? Just a different perspective on a similar set of parameters.

Thanks guys, I understand the cheapo vs. proven brand pretty well, you get what you pay for, just hunting for details. I've found a lot about IM heat shields on this site, there are quite a few companies out there, hondata, outlaw, etc., and all seem to have good reps. I'll keep digging on these guys and see if I find out anything worth posting.
It would probably be worth trying just because it is so cheap. Good luck getting the stock cork one off. Mine melted to my head and required clever use of a dremel to get all of it off.
I have the hondata gasket in my 01 gsr with my skunk2 intake, the only problem i had was the studs from the cyclinder head, weren't long enough with this setup so i have to change the studs to a little bit longer ones.
