Default GSR handle like Type R

Hello all ill be aquiring a GSR soon (94-98 2dr stock ) and im looking to mod the car so it has a nice balance of speed and handling, nothing too crazy on the motor but enough to get up and go, and ill be trying to get it to handle like the type R... my uncle can machine just about anything so it will be fun and ill keep you all updated with pics and information, but first i need some information if any of you happen to be blessed with acura/honda knowledge...

What else, besides shaving 100 lbs in body weight and upper and lower sway bars, would a GSR need to handle close, if not as good as, a type-r ?

Are the chasis of the two vehicles the same minus a few modifications or is the type R in a whole different ball park?

Oh btw, great forum lots of information and i sure hope this isnt a re-post...

Chassis is exactly the same. The ITR has thicker sway bars, and thicker rear lower control arms. It has stiffer springs and shocks and sits a little lower than a stock GSR. It also has a trunk brace in the rear of the car. How much are you looking at spending on your suspension?

Thanks try2live4god, that diagram was really usefull, really useful in destroying my hopes of getting the GSR's chassis like the type R, haha jk but thanks.

Just get a good set of shocks, springs/coilovers and an ITR rear sway bar and it will handle as good if not better than a stock ITR. I have those three things and mine handles like a dream. I haven't driven an ITR but I would assume my GSR would be on par, if not better, in terms of handling.

Don't forget to grab some ITR LCAs if you want the ITR handling experience... it will also allow you to choose from a wider variety of higher performance coilovers
