Default Car won't start.

I'm having a problem with starting my car, accept my car doesn't even start. It tries to start but it doesn't. If I spray fuel in the intake manifold it starts but it runs a little rough. I thought the injectors might have been clogged to I replaced them with some that I knew were working...same problem. I gave up on it last night after the car backfired while trying to start and ignited my arm on fire and left me with second degree burns on my left arm.

I'll mess with it some more next week. I have a PR4 by the way, but when that one is plugged up it doens't even try to start, just turns over, I put in the stock ECU which is a P06 for a SOHC non vtec and it tries to start. I have a B18B non vtec. 9 to 1 JE pistons with Eagle rods, skunk 2 cams and cam gears. I have the turbo but it's not in the car yet cause I need to brake the engine in first before I boost it. I actually think that the ECU (PR4) is fried...does anyone know how to test it to find that out?

Thanks
Chuck

For the ECU, try a know good one. You must be getting a spark, fuel pump?

I did. I have a buddy who has the same engine setup as I do and he has a P75 ECU. He came over one day and I took out his ECU and plugged it in my car and the same thing happen. I know I'm getting spark cause I know have 3rd degree burns on my left arm and hand. I can also hear the fuel pump coming on and I checked the pressure by putting in a fuel pressure gauge on right after the fuel filter.

Any other Ideas?

Thanks
Chuck

Replace your cap & rotor and go from there. I had this same problem 2 weeks ago and it was my rotor.

I was gonna try to do that, but the car would start if I sprayed gas in the intake manifold, so I didn't think it was that.

If the ignition timing is retarded enough, the spark will fire on the downstroke.

ok, I'll try that. Thank you for your advice. Should I also try to mess with the distributor and advance the timing?
