I have a stock intake. I was thinking this spring break I would make my own intake... Long ram of course. I'm going to use that DIY one on TI. What type of filter is the best? Mushroom, cone, cylinder? Those are the only ones I've seen.

In the last two years, I'm averaging 26.07 miles per gallon. And I drive with vigor. h:

Do teh math; if you're somewhere close, no worries.

I have a 96 GSR 4 door and I get roughly 325 to a tank and I drive a good amount of both city and highway and i tend to really turn it with a lead foot most days. Too bad I have to use Premium Octane because its clear of 2.30 a gallon here now. :-(

:eek3: WTF! I don't see how that would help your gas mileage.

If you need a stock LS air intake let me know. $10 shipped! I have a friend who has one sitting in his garage. I can get a picture of it if you would like.

So would an aftermarket intake be better than a stock one? What shape filters work the best or are they all the same? Where would be the best place to put the filter? Behind the passenger corner lens?

my stock 98 gs with 56000 miles get about 30 miles/gallon maybe 2/3 hwy 1/3 city driving

i fill up when the need is on Empty or really close to it, and everytime i fill up, its always between 9.5 and 10 gallon, never over 10...so i guess i still have another 2 gallon left in the tank or something

Wow. I was at about half tank, a little over 100 miles, and I took out my resonator and I took off the top of my air filter box. I kept driving, it was alot louder and I noticed a little more power. When I filled up today I had gotten an average of 28.5 miles to the gallon! Thats the most I have ever gotten. I'm looking forward to see what I get on my next tank. My 'rents have a 01 passat which gets like 26 to the gallon. I went from the least mpg in my family, to the most. I'm happy!
