Default Coilovers

I want to get some Tanabe S-OC Type II coilovers. Anyone have them, and if so are they worth it? How low can you make them before you need a camber kit? Here's a link Tanabe coilovers

I would save up and buy Tein SS over those.

I disagree. tanabe has been doing coilovers longer than tein. the shocks are short stroke versions of honda oem factory equipment and are made by a supplier that makes shocks for honda factory cars. alot of thought went into the damping rates of the sustec kit. The tein ss isnt rebound adjustable which I think is a very important tuning element. the spring rates are quite soft. on the tein set. If you want to talk about the best I think Buddy Club is the best stuff out there.

I agree, cheaper and one advantage is that you don't lose shock travel as opposed to the TEIN, not sure about Tanabe's.

Looking at the design, they have the same lowering done by dropping the spring perch. You drop a car on Tein SS or those Tanabes, you will lose shock travel. Those, from looking at it, are Tanabe's equivelent to the Tein BASICs.

The Tanabe system is also a 6/4 spring rate, while the Tein BASIC and SS systems are 8/6. The SSs have adjustable shocks, which are very nice.

Depending on what he wants, the Tanabe will give a little more everyday stiffness, but the Tein's will have much more support. Both are made from steel and have twin-tube shocks, so they're not the best of quality, but they're both good. I'd rather have the Teins though.

I've also heard a lot of good things about the Omni's.

They're extremely good for the price, but they're very stiff and they have pillowballs, so they're not very streetable... You can do it, once you get used to being thrown to the roof over speedbumps and the clack of the pillowballs

I've ridden in an EG with Omni's and it wasn't that bad compared to my Koni/Comptech setup.
