Default burning major oil hurt performance?

ywell i got a leakdown test and it turns out im leaking from the rings.yeah so i guess the rings didnt seat properly and the shop said i shouldve went with overbore. my concern now is if i continue driving on this motor thats burning appx. 1 qt every 500 miles..would it do harm to the car or performance in any way..i want to go to the track and continue to drive with the car in this condition but am a little sketchy about it..no funds right now to rering..

It will eventually poison the catalytic converter, foul the oxygen sensor and will contribute to detonation in a boosted motor, but I went for about 4 months going through about a quart a week. It definitely decreases power a good amount and should not be raced with the engine in that sort of condition.
